A combination regimen consisting of the CHG regimen (homoharringtonine, cytarabine, and G-CSF) plus venetoclax and azacitidine. It is being investigated for the treatment of newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Homoharringtonine inhibits protein synthesis; cytarabine is a pyrimidine analog that interferes with DNA synthesis; G-CSF (granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) is used to prime leukemic cells and support neutrophil recovery; venetoclax is a selective BCL-2 inhibitor that induces apoptosis; and azacitidine is a hypomethylating agent that incorporates into DNA and RNA to inhibit methyltransferases. This multi-drug approach targets multiple pathways including apoptosis, DNA methylation, and cytotoxic cell death.
