Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HP-3150 (Dofenta) is a transdermal patch formulation of sufentanil, a potent synthetic opioid analgesic, developed by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical. Utilizing Hisamitsu's proprietary transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) technology, the patch is designed to provide stable and continuous systemic delivery of sufentanil for the management of cancer-related pain. Sufentanil is a highly selective mu-opioid receptor agonist with a potency significantly greater than that of fentanyl or morphine. This formulation offers a non-invasive treatment option for patients with moderate-to-severe chronic pain, particularly those who have difficulty with oral administration. HP-3150 was approved for manufacturing and marketing in Japan in March 2024 for the treatment of cancer pain.
