Overview

HPC,A (Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells, Apheresis) is a cellular therapy product utilized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the treatment of high-risk hematologic malignancies, including leukemia and lymphoma. The product consists of hematopoietic stem cells collected from a haploidentical (half-matched) donor via apheresis. To optimize clinical outcomes, the cells are processed using the CliniMACS system for CD34+ selection (to enrich for progenitor cells) or CD45RA depletion (to remove naive T cells associated with graft-versus-host disease). This approach aims to achieve rapid hematopoietic engraftment and promote a graft-versus-leukemia effect, often in combination with donor-derived natural killer (NK) cells and a total lymphoid irradiation (TLI)-based conditioning regimen.
