HPDC-T cells + telbivudine is a combination therapy under investigation for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. This regimen combines two components: - **HPDC-T cells** (hepatitis B vaccine-activated dendritic cell-induced T cells): These are autologous immune effector T-cells generated by activating patient-derived dendritic cells with hepatitis B vaccine antigens, aiming to enhance HBV-specific cellular immunity and restore or boost antiviral immune responses. - **Telbivudine**: An orally administered synthetic thymidine β-L-nucleoside analogue that acts as a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). Telbivudine inhibits HBV DNA polymerase, leading to chain termination during viral DNA synthesis and thus suppressing viral replication[5][7][8]. The rationale for this combination is that while telbivudine reduces viral load and improves liver function by direct antiviral action, HPDC-T cell therapy aims to correct the impaired T-cell response seen in chronic HBV infection. The combined approach seeks both virological suppression and immunological restoration[1][3].
