Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HRS-5635 + pegylated interferon alfa is a combination therapy being developed by Fujian Shengdi Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Hengrui Pharma, for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. HRS-5635 is a liver-targeted small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence hepatitis B virus (HBV) gene expression by targeting viral RNA transcripts, thereby reducing the production of viral proteins such as HBsAg. Pegylated interferon alfa (Peg-IFN-α) is an immunomodulatory agent that enhances the host immune response and induces an antiviral state by binding to Type I interferon receptors. This combination is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials, specifically in patients who are virologically suppressed on nucleoside or nucleotide analogues, with the goal of achieving a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B.
