Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HRS5580 + palonosetron hydrochloride is an investigational fixed-dose combination (or co-administration) being developed by Fujian Shengdi Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals) for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in adults undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia. The combination consists of palonosetron, a potent, long-acting second-generation 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, and HRS5580, a novel investigational compound. The specific mechanism of action for HRS5580 has not been publicly confirmed, but its use in combination with a 5-HT3 antagonist suggests a complementary antiemetic pathway. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials to determine the optimal dose and safety profile.
