Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huaban Tang + Shenling Baizhu San is a combination of two traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulas. "Shenling Baizhu San" (参苓白术散, also known as Ginseng, Poria & Atractylodes Powder) is a classical TCM formula composed of ten herbs including ginseng (Ren Shen), atractylodes rhizome (Bai Zhu), poria mushroom (Fu Ling), liquorice root (Gan Cao), yam rhizome (Shan Yao), lotus seed, coix seed, lablab bean, amomum fruit, and platycodon root. It is primarily used to tonify Qi and strengthen the spleen, promote water metabolism, regulate the stomach and remove dampness. Its main indications are spleen Qi deficiency with dampness accumulation manifesting as poor appetite, loose stools or diarrhea, weakness of limbs and sallow complexion[6][7][8]. "Huaban Tang" refers to a category of TCM decoctions/formulas aimed at treating skin pigmentation disorders such as melasma or chloasma ("ban" meaning spots/patches). The specific composition can vary but typically includes herbs that invigorate blood circulation and resolve stasis in addition to harmonizing internal organ function[3]. When combined with Shenling Baizhu San—which supports digestive health and immune function—the overall therapeutic approach targets both internal imbalances contributing to skin conditions and underlying digestive/spleen deficiencies. This combination is not a single standardized pharmaceutical product but rather an herbal compound used in TCM practice for complex presentations such as chronic skin pigmentation disorders associated with digestive weakness or dampness accumulation.
