Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huaier Granule + chemotherapy is a combination treatment regimen pairing Huaier Granule, a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) derived from the aqueous extract of the medicinal fungus *Trametes robiniophila Murr.*, with standard-of-care chemotherapy agents. Huaier Granule is approved by the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA; Drug Approval Number: Z20000109) as a broad-spectrum anti-tumor botanical drug. The combination is utilized across various malignancies, including gastric, breast, lung, and colorectal cancers, to enhance therapeutic efficacy and mitigate chemotherapy-induced adverse effects. Mechanistically, Huaier Granule is thought to modulate innate immunity via cytokine release and reactive oxygen species generation, induce G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, inhibit tumor angiogenesis, and suppress Interleukin-8 (IL-8) expression by inhibiting the transcriptional activities of NF-κB and AP-1 signaling pathways, which may help overcome chemotherapy resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
