Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HuHuangLianzonggan capsule is a botanical drug candidate developed by Tasly Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). It is a purified extract containing total glycosides from the rhizome of *Picrorhiza scrophulariiflora*, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. The primary active constituents are iridoid glycosides, including picroside I and picroside II. These compounds are thought to provide hepatoprotective effects by reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting pro-inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB, and potentially modulating lipid metabolism. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical trials (HHL-HEPAR) to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with NASH.
