Huizhisu is a combination product primarily composed of phosphatidylserine (PS), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and taurine, which is investigated in China for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and cognitive enhancement. Phosphatidylserine is a critical phospholipid in neuronal membranes that supports membrane fluidity and serves as a cofactor for enzymes like protein kinase C. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid essential for brain structure and function, while taurine acts as a neuromodulator and antioxidant. The combination is hypothesized to improve symptoms of ADHD by modulating neurotransmitter systems, including dopamine and acetylcholine, and enhancing neuronal signaling. Clinical trials, such as those conducted at Beijing Anding Hospital, have evaluated Huizhisu as a non-stimulant therapeutic option for children with ADHD.
