Human (allogeneic) iPS cell derived-cardiomyocyte sheet is a regenerative therapy developed for treating ischemic cardiomyopathy. This therapy involves transplanting sheets of cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) derived from allogeneic induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The cardiomyocyte sheets are applied to damaged heart tissue to improve cardiac function. These iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes beat spontaneously and produce cytokines that induce angiogenesis, potentially repairing myocardial tissue through both mechanical contraction and paracrine effects. The therapy is administered in combination with immunosuppressants to prevent rejection of the allogeneic cells.
