Factocel IX is a plasma-derived human coagulation factor IX concentrate developed and manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency), a genetic disorder characterized by a lack of functional clotting factor IX. Factocel IX is also utilized to control or prevent excessive bleeding during and after surgical procedures. By replacing the deficient or missing clotting factor IX, the drug restores the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade, facilitating the activation of factor X to factor Xa and ultimately leading to stable fibrin clot formation at the site of vascular injury.
