Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RT-109 is the original RaniPill capsule, an investigational oral formulation developed by Rani Therapeutics to deliver human growth hormone (hGH) for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency[1]. Conventional hGH therapy requires daily subcutaneous injections, which are often painful; RT-109 aims to replace injections with oral administration by utilizing the proprietary RaniPill technology, which encapsulates the biologic agent in a capsule that survives stomach acid and releases its payload in the intestine for systemic absorption[1]. hGH is a protein hormone that stimulates growth, cell reproduction, and cell regeneration. Rani Therapeutics has entered into an Evaluation and First Right of Refusal agreement with Changchun High & New Technology Industries for commercialization rights in China[1].
