Drug intelligence / Profile preview
human insulin + liraglutide is a combination product under development by M.J. Biopharm for the treatment of diabetes. It consists of recombinant human insulin, a glucose-regulating hormone, and liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Recombinant human insulin acts by binding to the insulin receptor to facilitate glucose uptake into cells and inhibit hepatic glucose production. Liraglutide mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1, stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, reducing glucagon secretion, and delaying gastric emptying. This combination therapy is designed to improve glycemic control by addressing multiple physiological defects in diabetes, targeting both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.
