Human normal immunoglobulin is a plasma-derived, polyvalent human IgG preparation administered intravenously; the Aalborg recurrent pregnancy loss study used the 10% IVIg product **Privigen**. It contains a broad spectrum of intact IgG antibodies and has pleiotropic immunomodulatory activity, including antibody-mediated neutralisation and opsonisation, rather than a single defined molecular target. At Aalborg University Hospital, Privigen was investigated with oral prednisolone in a completed randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial for unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss after assisted reproductive technology; the IVIg component was administered around embryo transfer and through early pregnancy.
