Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The human papillomavirus (types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58) 9-valent recombinant vaccine (Hansenula polymorpha) is a nonavalent prophylactic vaccine developed by Shanghai Bovax Biotechnology and its subsidiary Chongqing Bovax Biopharmaceutical. The vaccine is composed of recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) of the major capsid protein L1 of HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58, expressed in the methylotrophic yeast *Hansenula polymorpha* and adsorbed onto an aluminum phosphate adjuvant. It is designed to prevent persistent infections and associated diseases caused by these nine HPV types, including cervical, vulvar, vaginal, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal cancers, as well as precancerous lesions (such as CIN, VIN, VaIN, AIN, and PIN) and genital warts. The vaccine is currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials in China for both male and female populations.
