Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of allogeneic human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (huc-MSCs) and is being developed by Central South University for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis vulgaris. The therapy functions through potent immunomodulatory mechanisms, specifically by restoring the balance between pro-inflammatory and regulatory immune cells. It has been shown to increase the frequency of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and CD4+ memory T cells while simultaneously decreasing the population of Th17 cells and reducing systemic levels of interleukin-17 (IL-17). Administered via multiple intravenous infusions, the therapy aims to provide a safer and more durable alternative to conventional systemic treatments and biologics for patients with resistant psoriasis.
