This investigational cell therapy combination, developed by Translational Biosciences, consists of allogeneic human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSC) and autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMC). It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for the treatment of spinal cord injury (SCI). The therapeutic approach utilizes the synergistic effects of both cell types: UC-MSCs provide immunomodulatory and neurotrophic support to reduce secondary injury and promote a regenerative environment, while BMMCs, which include various progenitor populations, are intended to support revascularization and tissue repair. The treatment protocol involves a dual administration route, combining intravenous and intrathecal injections to optimize cell delivery to the central nervous system and systemic circulation.
