Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) and is being developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College (Yijishan Hospital) for the treatment of stage II-III knee osteoarthritis. The therapy is administered via arthroscopy-mediated intra-articular injection. hUC-MSCs are multipotent cells that facilitate joint repair through several mechanisms: they can differentiate into chondrocytes to promote cartilage regeneration, secrete various growth factors and cytokines to support tissue repair, and provide immunomodulatory effects that reduce inflammation within the osteoarthritic joint environment.
