Hyaluronic acid + corticosteroid

Hyaluronic acid + corticosteroid is a combination therapy used primarily for the intra-articular treatment of osteoarthritis, especially of the knee. Hyaluronic acid acts as a viscosupplement, improving joint lubrication and potentially providing longer-term pain relief and improved function in osteoarthritic joints. Corticosteroids provide rapid, short-term reduction in inflammation and pain by acting on nuclear steroid receptors to suppress inflammatory pathways, reduce vascular permeability, inhibit accumulation of inflammatory cells, and decrease production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This combination may be used when monotherapy with either agent is insufficient for symptom control[1][2][4]. The primary indication is symptomatic management of moderate to severe osteoarthritis.
