Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hyaluronic acid + melatonin is a topical combination therapy being investigated by Cairo University for the management of tooth loss and the enhancement of dental implant success. This mixture combines the tissue-regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan, with the osteogenic and antioxidant effects of melatonin. When applied to the extraction socket and the surface of an immediate dental implant, the combination aims to accelerate osseointegration, minimize peri-implant bone resorption, and reduce post-operative pain. Hyaluronic acid facilitates wound healing by modulating the inflammatory response and providing a scaffold for cell migration, while melatonin promotes bone formation by stimulating osteoblast differentiation and protecting against oxidative stress-induced tissue damage.
