Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hyaluronic acid + normal saline is a combination product typically used as a nasal or topical irrigation solution and occasionally in other medical settings. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that plays a crucial role in tissue hydration and repair due to its high water-binding capacity and ability to modulate inflammation, enhance mucociliary clearance, promote tissue healing, and form protective viscoelastic films on mucosa. Normal saline acts as an isotonic carrier, promoting hydration and mechanical cleaning of mucosal surfaces. When combined, hyaluronic acid and normal saline can be used for nasal irrigation in chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and post-surgical care, where the hyaluronic acid enhances mucosal regeneration, reduces inflammation, and may accelerate healing compared to saline alone[1][2]. Multiple molecular weights of hyaluronic acid may be included to optimize film-forming, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties, and this combination is generally administered as a solution for irrigation, spray, or lavage[1][2].
