Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of hyaluronic acid in connective tissue, thereby increasing tissue permeability. When combined with rehydration fluids (such as normal saline or other subcutaneous infusions), it facilitates the absorption and dispersion of these fluids for the treatment of dehydration via hypodermoclysis (subcutaneous fluid administration). This combination is used to enhance the permeation and resorption of injected solutions and can also be used to increase absorption of other drugs administered subcutaneously. The mechanism involves enzymatic breakdown of intercellular barriers by depolymerizing hyaluronic acid[1][3][5][8].
