Arbaval Plus is a fixed-dose combination medication containing valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Developed and marketed by SAJA Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. Valsartan works by selectively blocking the angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1), preventing angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which relaxes blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the kidneys to inhibit the sodium-chloride cotransporter (NCC) in the distal convoluted tubule, increasing the excretion of sodium and water to reduce blood volume. Together, these complementary mechanisms provide synergistic blood pressure reduction.
