Drug intelligence / Profile preview
QEV-817 is an investigational, immediate-release oral suspension combination of **hydrocodone bitartrate** and **doxapram hydrochloride** developed by **Quivive Pharma**. Hydrocodone is a well-established opioid analgesic that acts as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor to treat pain. Doxapram is a respiratory stimulant that, when included at sub-therapeutic doses in this formulation, is intended to act as a safety mechanism by counteracting opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD) resulting from accidental or intentional overdose. The product is being developed via the FDA's 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials (NCT06585163) to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
