This combination is primarily used for the treatment of acute otitis media with ear discharge (AOMd) and otorrhea, targeting pathogens such as *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Haemophilus influenzae*, and *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. It is notably used in the Netherlands and France, often as an alternative to oral antibiotics or aminoglycoside-containing eardrops to avoid potential ototoxicity.
