Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hydrocortisone + urea is a topical combination drug used to treat inflammation and dryness of the skin caused by conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, or psoriasis. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression to suppress inflammatory pathways. Urea (also known as carbamide) acts as a keratolytic and humectant agent that softens and moisturizes the skin. The combination provides both anti-inflammatory effects from hydrocortisone and enhanced hydration from urea[5]. This product is typically used for corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses where additional emollient action is beneficial.
