Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This dental biomaterial combination is being investigated by Cairo University for alveolar ridge preservation following tooth extraction. It consists of a bovine-derived xenograft (bone mineral) mixed with a synthetic hydrogel scaffold. The xenograft component provides an osteoconductive hydroxyapatite matrix that promotes bone growth, while the hydrogel component forms a three-dimensional cross-linked network that simulates the natural extracellular matrix. This structure allows for the storage and transport of growth factors, cytokines, and nutrients, facilitating bone regeneration and maintaining bone volume for future dental implants.
