A combination dental treatment consisting of hydrogen peroxide and potassium nitrate, developed by The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. It is indicated for the treatment of tooth discoloration and the management of associated dentin hypersensitivity. Hydrogen peroxide functions as a bleaching agent by diffusing into the enamel and dentin to oxidize organic chromophores, resulting in a whitening effect. Potassium nitrate acts as a desensitizer; potassium ions migrate through the dentinal tubules to the pulp, where they increase the extracellular potassium concentration. This depolarization of the sensory nerve membranes prevents the transmission of pain signals, thereby reducing the sensitivity often associated with chemical bleaching. This formulation is designed to provide an effective aesthetic outcome while improving patient tolerance and comfort during and after the procedure.
