Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a fixed-dose combination of three active pharmaceutical ingredients—hyoscine butylbromide, paracetamol, and dicyclomine. It is formulated to provide comprehensive relief from abdominal pain, cramps, and spasms associated with gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), renal colic, biliary colic, and other conditions involving smooth muscle spasm. - **Hyoscine butylbromide** acts as an antispasmodic by blocking muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing spasms and discomfort. - **Dicyclomine** is also an anticholinergic/antispasmodic that relaxes intestinal smooth muscle through antagonism at muscarinic receptors (M1, M2, M3) and non-competitive inhibition of bradykinin and histamine effects on smooth muscle[6][7]. - **Paracetamol** functions as a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system to reduce pain perception and fever[4][5]. The combination targets both the underlying cause of spasms (via dual antispasmodics) and provides symptomatic relief from pain or fever (via paracetamol). This triple therapy may be used when single or dual combinations are insufficient for symptom control.
