Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This hyperimmune plasma therapy is a biological product developed by the Andalusian Network for Design and Translation of Advanced Therapies (And&tAT) for the treatment of COVID-19. It is composed of plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection and contains high concentrations of neutralizing antibodies. The therapy works by providing passive immunity, where the infused antibodies bind to and neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells and reducing the severity of the disease. It was investigated in a Phase I/II clinical trial (NCT04366245) specifically for hospitalized patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.
