**Hypochlorous acid + silicone** is a topical gel formulation combining stabilized hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a naturally occurring antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent produced by neutrophils, with silicone (often as modified silicon oil or fluorosilicate-based carrier) to form a hydrogel that enhances wound healing, reduces scarring, and manages inflammation. HOCl provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by oxidizing bacterial cell walls and biofilms without harming human cells, while also modulating immune responses and promoting epithelialization; the silicone component improves scar quality by reducing vascularity, height, elasticity, and pruritus in hypertrophic scars and keloids, outperforming 100% silicone gel in some studies. Primarily indicated for periprocedural skin preparation, post-surgical wound care, scar management, and inflammatory skin conditions like atopic dermatitis, it is non-cytotoxic, pH-neutral (typically 5.0-6.4), with available free chlorine (AFC) of 100-2000 ppm, and stable for extended periods.[1][4][5][7][13]
