Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Orchatears Plus is a sterile ophthalmic solution used as artificial tears for the symptomatic relief of dry eye conditions. Developed by Orchidia Pharmaceutical, it contains a combination of two active ingredients: hypromellose (0.3%) and dextran 70 (0.1%). Hypromellose is a viscoelastic polymer that increases the viscosity of the eye drops, helping to maintain the tear film on the ocular surface for a longer duration. Dextran 70 is a high-molecular-weight polysaccharide that acts as a demulcent, providing a protective film over the cornea and conjunctiva to reduce irritation and friction. Together, these components stabilize the tear film and provide long-lasting lubrication for patients suffering from keratoconjunctivitis sicca or environmental eye irritation.
