hypromellose + xylitol + sodium hyaluronate

Hypromellose + xylitol + sodium hyaluronate is an investigational combination nasal spray being evaluated for the postoperative management of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in patients undergoing functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). The formulation combines three active components: hypromellose (HPMC), a viscosity-enhancing polymer that acts as a mucosal lubricant and protectant; xylitol, a naturally occurring sugar alcohol with known antibiofilm and osmotic properties in the sinonasal cavity; and sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), a glycosaminoglycan that supports mucosal wound healing and hydration. The combination acts primarily through a physical, mucoprotective mechanism to support mucociliary clearance and mucosal healing without targeting specific biological receptors. It is being evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, within-patient postoperative Phase 2 clinical study.
