Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) of ibuprofen and acetaminophen developed by Laboratorios Silanes S.A. de C.V. for the management of pain and fever. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is an analgesic and antipyretic agent that primarily acts through central nervous system mechanisms, including the inhibition of central prostaglandin synthesis and potentially the modulation of the endocannabinoid system. The combination is designed to provide enhanced analgesic efficacy by utilizing two distinct mechanisms of action. Laboratorios Silanes has developed this FDC in both a pediatric oral suspension (100 mg ibuprofen and 125 mg acetaminophen per 5 mL) and a tablet formulation (200 mg ibuprofen and 500 mg acetaminophen).
