Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of ibuprofen and celecoxib represents concurrent use of two different NSAIDs. Ibuprofen is a non-selective COX inhibitor that blocks both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, while celecoxib (Celebrex) is a selective COX-2 inhibitor. Taking these medications together is generally not recommended due to increased risk of gastrointestinal side effects including bleeding, ulcers, and stomach irritation. This combination also increases the risk of cardiovascular events and kidney damage. Healthcare providers typically advise against using multiple NSAIDs simultaneously.
