Overview

Ibuprofen + chlorpheniramine is a fixed-dose combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing inflammation, pain, and fever. Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine that acts as an antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose associated with allergies or the common cold. This combination is primarily used for symptomatic relief of allergy and cold symptoms including nasal congestion (when combined with decongestants in some formulations), headache, minor aches and pains, fever, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes[1][4][6]. It is available over-the-counter in various branded products.
