Overview
Lofen Tyne (络芬泰) is a sustained-release oral combination analgesic developed by Mayinglong Pharmaceutical Group. It consists of ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and codeine phosphate, an opioid analgesic. Ibuprofen provides peripheral analgesia and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Codeine phosphate provides central analgesia by acting as an agonist at mu-opioid receptors. The sustained-release capsule formulation is intended for the management of various types of moderate to severe pain, including cancer pain, postoperative pain, arthralgia, neuralgia, myalgia, migraine, headache, dysmenorrhea, and toothache. The combination is designed to provide prolonged pain relief and improve patient compliance compared to immediate-release formulations.
