Overview

This is a combination drug containing three components: - **Ibuprofen** is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, and fever. - **Diphenhydramine** is an antihistamine that acts as an inverse agonist at histamine H1 receptors in the brain, producing sedative effects and helping with sleep onset. - **Aluminium magnesium silicate** functions primarily as an antacid or excipient. In some formulations it may be used to relieve symptoms of acid indigestion or to stabilize suspensions. This specific triple combination has been studied for symptomatic relief in conditions such as oral aphthous ulcers and potentially for insomnia associated with minor aches and pains[1][5]. However, most widely available over-the-counter products combine only ibuprofen and diphenhydramine; inclusion of aluminium magnesium silicate is less common and may be found mainly in compounded or investigational formulations[1][5].
