ibuprofen + levomenthol

DoriDuo is a fixed-dose combination lozenge developed by MEDICE Arzneimittel Puetter for the symptomatic treatment of acute pharyngitis (sore throat) in adults. It contains 25 mg of ibuprofen and 1.1 mg of levomenthol. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins in the pharyngeal mucosa. Levomenthol acts as an agonist at the TRPM8 (transient receptor potential melastatin 8) cold receptors, producing a cooling sensation and providing mild local anesthetic properties to soothe irritation. This combination is intended for short-term use to manage pain and swelling associated with throat infections, offering both systemic anti-inflammatory action and local sensory relief.
