Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Askprol Ultra is a fixed-dose combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) developed and marketed by Citi Pharma in Pakistan. It is indicated for the temporary relief of mild to moderate pain and the reduction of fever. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic agent that primarily acts on the central nervous system, potentially through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and modulation of the endogenous cannabinoid system. Together, the two active ingredients provide synergistic pain relief.
