Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Megafen is an over-the-counter fixed-dose combination analgesic and antipyretic product developed and marketed by Rameda (Tenth of Ramadan Pharmaceutical Industries). It contains ibuprofen (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Ibuprofen acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, thereby alleviating pain and inflammation. Paracetamol acts primarily in the central nervous system to provide additional pain relief and reduce fever. Megafen is indicated for the temporary relief of mild to moderate pain, including headaches, migraines, toothaches, muscular aches, backaches, joint pain, and symptoms associated with the common cold and flu.
