Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ibuprofen + pseudoephedrine is an oral combination drug used for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold and flu, such as headache, fever, sinus pressure, nasal congestion, minor aches and pains. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for inflammation and pain. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant that stimulates alpha and beta adrenergic receptors to constrict blood vessels in nasal mucosa, reducing swelling and congestion. The combination provides more effective symptom relief than either agent alone[1][2][5].
