This is an investigational **combination drug** comprising **icerguastat** and **riluzole**, studied primarily for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), specifically the bulbar-onset subtype. **Riluzole** is a small molecule approved for ALS which acts primarily as an anti-glutamatergic agent by inhibiting glutamate release, inactivating voltage-dependent sodium channels, and modulating excitatory amino acid receptor signaling. **Icerguastat** (also known as IFB-088, by InFlectis BioScience) is a small molecule that modulates the integrated stress response (ISR) by targeting the PPP1R15A/PP1c phosphatase complex, thereby regulating protein translation rates in stressed cells. The combination is designed to provide additive or synergistic neuroprotective effects via **dual modulation** of cellular stress and excitotoxicity pathways.
