icodextrin + dextrose

Icodextrin + dextrose (DSR Infusate 2.0) is a novel, concentrated intraperitoneal solution composed of 30% icodextrin and 10% dextrose. Developed by **Sequana Medical** in collaboration with **Infomed Fluids**, it is designed for Direct Sodium Removal (DSR) therapy. The solution works by creating a high osmotic gradient across the peritoneal membrane—utilizing both the crystalline osmotic pressure of dextrose and the colloid osmotic pressure of the large-molecule icodextrin—to facilitate the removal of sodium and fluid from the bloodstream into the peritoneal cavity. It is primarily being investigated as a treatment for volume overload in patients with congestive heart failure and those with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring peritoneal dialysis.
