Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination therapy consists of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) icotinib (brand name Conmana) and specific Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal granules, including YiQiFang, YangYinFang, or YiQiYangYinFang. Developed and studied by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this regimen is primarily evaluated for the maintenance treatment of advanced pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Icotinib is a small molecule that selectively and reversibly inhibits the ATP-binding site of the EGFR kinase domain, blocking downstream signaling pathways such as MAPK and AKT that drive tumor cell proliferation. The TCM granules are formulated based on syndrome differentiation (targeting Qi deficiency, Yin deficiency, or both) to potentially enhance the therapeutic efficacy of targeted therapy, prolong progression-free survival, and improve the quality of life in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
