Overview

Icotinib + WBRT is a combination therapeutic regimen consisting of the small molecule epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) icotinib hydrochloride and concurrent whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT). Developed by Betta Pharmaceuticals, this regimen is specifically designed for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR mutations who have developed brain metastases. Icotinib, marketed as Conmana in China, selectively inhibits the intracellular tyrosine kinase domain of EGFR, while WBRT provides local control of intracranial lesions through ionizing radiation. Clinical studies, including Phase 3 and 4 trials, have evaluated the safety and efficacy of this combination, focusing on intracranial objective response rates and progression-free survival in patients with advanced EGFR-mutated NSCLC.
