Id-KLH vaccine + QS-21 is a personalized autologous therapeutic cancer vaccine developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for the treatment of follicular lymphoma. The vaccine is composed of a patient-specific tumor-derived immunoglobulin idiotype (Id) protein, which acts as a unique tumor-associated antigen, chemically conjugated to the carrier protein keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) to enhance its immunogenicity. This conjugate is administered in combination with QS-21, a purified plant-derived saponin that serves as an immunological adjuvant to further stimulate both humoral and cellular immune responses against the malignant B-cells. The treatment protocol typically involves administering the vaccine to patients who have achieved clinical remission or minimal disease status following standard chemotherapy, with the goal of eradicating residual tumor cells and preventing disease recurrence.
