Overview

IFN-gamma positive selected T-cells are an investigational adoptive cellular therapy developed by the University Hospital, Basel. This therapy involves the isolation of virus-specific T-cells (VSTs) from a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) donor using the CliniMACS Cytokine Capture System (CCS). The process identifies and selects T-cells that secrete interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) upon stimulation with specific viral antigens from Adenovirus (AdV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and Cytomegalovirus (CMV). These selected cells are then infused into the HSCT recipient to restore cellular immunity and treat refractory post-transplant viral infections. This approach aims to provide rapid, targeted antiviral activity while minimizing the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) by depleting non-specific alloreactive T-cells.
