Ifosfamide, carboplatin, and doxorubicin is a combination chemotherapy regimen composed of three cytotoxic agents commonly used in the treatment of various solid tumors. - Ifosfamide is an alkylating agent that works by cross-linking DNA strands, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis and function. - Carboplatin is a platinum-based compound that forms DNA adducts leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, preventing replication and transcription; it also generates free radicals contributing to its cytotoxicity[6]. This combination may be used for advanced or refractory cancers such as soft tissue sarcomas or other solid tumors when single-agent therapy has failed or when aggressive multi-agent regimens are indicated[2][5]. The regimen exploits different mechanisms of action to maximize tumor cell kill.
